Fans of dead things hiding in the shadows may have a new favorite film when David F. Sandberg’s Lights Out comes to theaters in July. Produced by James Wan (Insidious, Saw, The Conjuring) and based on Sandberg’s short film of the same name, this film finds Teresa Palmer facing off against the shadowy creatures that are haunting her family, creatures that may have something do with an old friend of her mother, played by Maria Bello.

Based on this first trailer, the film does indeed look creepy, with lots of jump scares and an excellent use of darkness that should get audiences freaking out—or at least leaving the lights on a bit longer after seeing it. Lights Out will jump out at people in theaters July 22.
