Zombie comedy Life After Beth stars Aubrey Plaza as a reanimated—or “resurrected,” for the biblically inclined—teenaged girl whose zombie tendencies slowly take over the longer she’s back. Left to deal with her growing desire to eat people and wreak havoc are her boyfriend Dane DeHaan, her parents John C. Reilly and Molly Shannon, and a supporting cast that also includes Anna Kendrick and Matthew Gray Gubler. The R-rated comedy features Plaza’s signature dry delivery alongside a whole lot of equally dark comedy; parts of this trailer play like a genuine horror movie. With zombies at a peak cultural saturation point, Life After Beth thankfully looks to be more Shaun Of The Dead than Warm Bodies. The film opens in select theaters on August 15.
