haha and I’m glad you’re delighted—thank you for reading! Apologies for taking your question literally; I interpreted the tone incorrectly, which so often happens on the internet.

lol agreed, but did you read the piece? It’s an interview with the songwriters, so there’s the answer to your question right there.

I missed the 92Y virtual event last night, but that’s funny this facet of Jodie’s career was brought up there too. To answer your first question: No, we’re not given a list of topics to discuss—if anything, in some instances, they’ll tell you to “keep your questions focused the movie”—but it’s never, say, a bulleted Read more

Ahhh right, good intel! Honestly, the statement was in response to something she said in her Actors On Actors interview w/ Anthony Hopkins. I think, even though they’re based on real people, she definitely thinks of her roles in The Accused and Contact as characters - I mean, heck, in this very interview she seems Read more

Really wish Kahmora could’ve made it to the Bag Ball to show that douchebag look off—it’s fashion AND it’s so, so funny

I do think the album production is lacking and, honestly, it wasn’t ‘til I heard the songs performed live for Infinite Disco that I fell for them. So just another testament to how spectacular the entire live performance was imo!

Sorry about that! Something happened on the Kinja back-end that ate most of the post when the podcast embed was added in. They fixed it though, and the full interview discussion’s in there now!

Whoa, that’s awesome—such a great video; congrats!! First time I heard the song was when i watched the video, and it’s been seared in my brain ever since. The visuals! The dancing! The llama!! Maybe we’ll get to feature it again when the album comes out, but, regardless, you should be proud!

Yes, it’s kind of a strange phenomenon! When (writer) Jessica Bendinger told me that Heathers writer Dan Waters and warned her about using current teen slang, it all made sense. It’s truly why these films have stood the test of time.

Oh noooo, I’m so sorry to hear that! I just lost a family dog earlier this year too, and I was devastated. Skip ahead to the end of the list and listen to “Mi Pan”/the Miel Pops theme song. It’s so absurd that it will hopefully put you in a better mood! Sending you and your dog so much love!

That’s definitely true! But they were also inescapable on TikTok, which only helped them grow in the public consciousness, so I wanted to include.

To be fair, I think that Bill Wurtz (and even the TikTokers who use his song for their videos) is aware that this song is “bad;” I mean, it’s pure cheese! But that’s the point. And maybe this is just a matter of personal taste, but I think the fact that artists like Flo Milli were able to break through via Read more

I’m also sad the Jessie Ware album didn’t make the cut because it’s SO deserving. But, fwiw, a lot of us submitted our picks for these before the album was out—I had my list firmed up and sent in, then I heard What’s Your Pleasure the following week and immediately wrote it up for A-Sides. Thinking it’ll have a better Read more

We absolutely discussed it (how could we not), and it’s in the video, but we opted to leave it out of the written interview since we already touched on it in our previous Random Roles with her back in ‘11.
