“God creates dinosaurs. God destroys dinosaurs. God creates man. Man destroys God. Man creates dinosaurs.”—Dr. Ian Malcolm

Dinosaurs create massively popular, multi-million dollar franchise. Almost exactly 22 years after Jurassic Park redefined the summer blockbuster and became one of the most beloved movies of the ’90s, Universal is banking on nostalgia and Chris Pratt with the sequel Jurassic World. Years after the events of the original film, the experimental dinosaur attraction has now become a full-blown tourist attraction (ignoring the fact that the dinosaurs broke loose and almost killed Jeff Goldblum). Pratt stars as a Velociraptor wrangler who, alongside Bryce Dallas Howard’s operations manager, must stop a new, genetically enhanced dino from destroying the park. Directed by Safety Not Guaranteed’s Colin Trevorrow, the film also stars Vincent D’Onofrio, Jake Johnson, Judy Greer, Omar Sy, and features a welcome return from B.D. Wong’s Dr. Henry Wu. Jurassic World opens nationwide on June 12, but The A.V. Club and Universal Pictures can get you in for free on June 9, if you’re lucky.
