Ghostbusters (2016)

Maybe you’ve heard about this one? After months and months of speculation and angry internet comments, Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot is right around the corner. Will it be funny? Will it do justice to Ivan Reitman’s much-beloved original? Will Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson be making more than just a cameo? While that all may remain to be seen, one thing we do know for certain: Kate McKinnon’s Jillian Holtzmann is going to be a badass.

The new Ghostbusters will start taking calls nationwide on July 15, but The A.V. Club and Sony have an opportunity for you to be one of the first to see it for free on Tuesday, July 12. Remember: Advance screenings are often intentionally overbooked, so be sure to arrive early if you want to guarantee a seat. An official plot synopsis and trailer for the film can be found below:

Paranormal researcher Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy) and physicist Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig) are trying to prove that ghosts exist in modern society. When strange apparitions start to appear in Manhattan, they ask brilliant engineer Jillian Holtzmann (Kate McKinnon) to build special equipment. Also joining the team is Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones), a lifelong New Yorker who knows the city inside and out. Armed with proton packs and plenty of attitude, the four women prepare for an epic battle as more than 1,000 mischievous ghouls descend on Times Square.
