The horror remake train pulls into Poltergeist station this summer with a modern-day update of the 1982 classic. Despite some tragic coincidences surrounding the original film (and its later sequels), director Gil Kenan (Monster House) ain’t afraid of no ghost —or supposed curses, for that matter. Bringing some indie cred to the project, Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt play the suburban parents who must take on the supernatural in order to save their daughter. Poltergeist comes to theaters everywhere on May 22, but The A.V. Club and 20th Century Fox have an opportunity for you to see it for free on May 21. For your chance to win a pair of passes to the advance screening, simply follow the link here and enter your information. As always, seats are first come, first serve, so be sure to arrive early. An official plot synopsis and trailer can be found below.

“Legendary filmmaker Sam Raimi (Spiderman, Evil Dead, The Grudge) and director Gil Kenan (Monster House) contemporize the classic tale about a family whose suburban home is haunted by evil forces. When the terrifying apparitions escalate their attacks and hold the youngest daughter captive, the family must come together to rescue her before she disappears forever.”
