Though it wasn’t a monster hit, 2015’s Sicario has more than earned its reputation as one of the sharpest thrillers in recent years. But did its pointedly dark conclusion really need a follow-up? Hollywood is filled with unnecessary spin-offs and sequels that explore corners of cinematic universes that were probably better off left alone, but few of these films feel as needless or as ill-timed as Stefano Sollima’s Sicario: Day Of The Soldado.
