The general advice for pregnant women is to stay clear of cigarettes, recreational drugs, and copious amounts of alcohol. But it’s a little unclear if those guidelines still apply when one is giving birth to an immaculately conceived demon baby. That’s what first time feature director Danny Perez set out to investigate with Antibirth, his trippy pregnancy-themed horror movie that aims to make Rosemary’s Baby look like a walk in the park.

Orange Is The New Black’s Natasha Lyonne plays a grungy party girl who wakes up from a bad trip to discover she’s pregnant. She and her best friend (Chloë Sevigny) try to figure out what’s going on while body horror, “surreal shocks,” and black comedy unfold around them. The unsettling film made its debut as a midnight release at this year’s Sundance film festival, and it will be delivered into theaters and on VOD September 2.
