Pennywise the clown may seem like the scariest thing in the movie adaptation of Stephen King’s It, but this new clip focuses on something even more terrifying: gross water inside sewer pipes. Alright, that’s probably not more terrifying, but the clip—which was shown during the MTV Movie And TV Awards—does spend a lot of time on fears that are a bit more grounded than the evil clown/extra-dimensional monster…until the clown actually shows up, at least. Once he does, all of the gross water and mysteriously discarded shoes don’t seem nearly as important. The clip ends with some quick cuts of the kids looking terrified, and then one nightmare-inducing look at Bill Skarsgård‘s Pennywise.
It was directed by Andrés Muschietti, and it will be in theaters on September 8.
