Fresh off the heels of another documentary about a great film that was never made comes this tale of director Richard Stanley and his own aborted attempt to make a sci-fi masterpiece. With access to Stanley himself, along with New Line producer Bob Shaye, actress Fairuza Balk, and other key personnel, Lost Soul goes behind the scenes to examine how “clash of vision, bad creative decisions, lack of interest, and really bad weather” contributed to the mess that was 1996’s infamous disaster, The Island Of Dr. Moreau.

Lost Soul will be playing select theaters starting February 7, then rolling out to other cities for special screenings afterwards. For those interested in another story of a possibly genius movie botched before it could rightfully begin, or who simply want tales of Val Kilmer and Marlon Brando going batshit, this looks like one not to miss.
