After seeing Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu take home the Oscar for Best Director (his second in a row) at this year’s Academy Awards, a Best Picture win seemed likely for The Revenant. And while that film is certainly impressive in its own right, it was refreshing to see the Academy give its top honors to Tom McCarthy’s Spotlight, a more modest, but passionate movie about a group of hard-working, passionate people. The true story highlights the Boston Globe’s “Spotlight” team, a small, dedicated group of reporters who faced a great deal of resistance while trying to expose the systemic sex abuse within the Catholic Church. The Best Picture winner is now available on Blu-ray, and The A.V. Club has an opportunity for you to win a copy as part of a Spotlight prize package that also includes:
- An official reprint of the original Boston Globe newspaper story
- A film score soundtrack cassette signed by composer Howard Shore
- The Spotlight Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on CD
- Betrayal, the book on which the film is based
